Cookie Policy

What cookies we use

CrawlFox uses one strictly necessary cookie that keeps you signed in. Google Analytics and the live-chat widget set their own, and those two only load if you accept them — decline and neither script runs at all. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share what we collect.

CookiePurposeExpiryType
__Secure-better-auth.session_tokenYour signed session token, so you stay signed in between pages7 daysStrictly necessary
_ga, _ga_<id>Google Analytics: tells us which pages are used, with your IP address truncated2 yearsAnalytics
crisp-client/session/<id> and relatedCrisp live chat: keeps your conversation attached to you across pagesUp to 6 monthsFunctional

localStorage

We store two entries in your browser's localStorage. The Crisp chat widget stores its own entries there too, under keys beginning crisp-client, for the same reason its cookie exists — so an open conversation survives a page change.

KeyPurpose
crawlfox.onboarding.seenTracks whether you have dismissed the first-use welcome banner
crawlfox.cookieConsentYour answer to the cookie banner, so we ask once. Stored here rather than in a cookie, because keeping the answer to “may we set cookies?” in a cookie would be absurd

Third-party scripts

Sign-in and sessions are handled by our own servers, so the session cookie is set by us and by nobody else. We load two third-party scripts, Google Analytics and the Crisp chat widget, which set the cookies listed above. We embed no advertising scripts and set no advertising cookies.

To opt out of Google Analytics entirely, install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or block the cookies above in your browser settings.

Your choice

The first time you visit we ask whether the analytics and live-chat cookies are allowed. Decline and those scripts never load, so their cookies are never set — declining is a recorded answer, not a dismissal that comes back on the next page. The session cookie is not part of that choice: it is what keeps you signed in, and there is no version of the product that works without it.

To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and we will ask again.

Managing cookies

You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting the session cookie will sign you out. All modern browsers provide per-site cookie controls in their privacy or security settings panel.
